Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer role will be pivotal in ensuring the optimum profitability, operational efficiency, and effectiveness of Ela Motors Solomon Islands by managing the business in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan, Marketing Plans, and Corporate Policies and Procedures. This position will entail full responsibility for strategic business development and market share, as well as delivering the highest service standards to customers while effectively managing and promoting both internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Processes

  • Ensure annual sales objectives (units and revenue), EBIT and market share targets are achieved for each franchise, including used vehicles.
  • In conjunction with TTSPH develop the Sales and Marketing strategy to achieve the new and used vehicle sales, EBIT and market share objectives.
  • Implement sales marketing initiatives to address new opportunities/problem areas.
  • Execute all agreed sales and marketing strategies, tactics and policies.
  • Ensure regular review of Voice of Customer (VOC) to ensure customer related complaints / issues / trends are monitored and addressed.
  • Constantly monitor all potential new business opportunities, maintain constant contact with decision makers, endeavour to establish new business relationships at the earliest possible opportunity and make representations to Government members/administrators and major business operations
  • Oversee the management of the Service, Parts, Tyre and Battery departments and ensure that they maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and prospect for new business and develop long-term customer relationships. Through focused training and development activities, increase the expertise of the Service, Parts, Tyre and Battery teams in the company.
  • Implement measures to safeguard company assets against unauthorised use or disposition.
  • Ensure that stock ordering/inventory is managed efficiently, and inventory levels are within company guidelines. Ensure that stock take requirements are at appropriate levels.
  • Ensure the timely collection of all outstanding debts.
  • Safeguard all company assets and ensure that assets are maintained and in excellent condition.
  • Ensure that business operations are conducted within borrowing levels.
  • Minimise interest costs to the lowest level.
  • Reduce exposure to foreign exchange currency movements.
  • Keep expenses within budget levels and have appropriate management controls in place to ensure that expenses are controlled in all areas.
  • Implement, maintain and ensure total compliance with corporate policy and procedures, and comply with all relevant legislation.
  • Ensure that all staff are properly trained in the core skills of their job and are given opportunities to develop. Training of citizen employees is one of the primary objectives of the Company, the Solomon Islands government and a primary objective of the employment contract.
  • Perform site inspections regularly for ANZEN and Asset Management purposes.
  • Working Capital – Ensure strong review over Aged Debtors / Inventory / WIP / Open Invoices / Bank Reconciliation.
  • Maintain strong and close communication with TTSPH and follow the bad news first principle in terms of ANZEN / Incident Reporting / Customer issues.

Finance

  • Co-ordinate the development of the annual budget submissions; submit proposed budgets to Head Office and reach an agreement with Head Office on the budgets for the forthcoming year.
  • Review monthly management reports with Department Managers, identify and initiate corrective action to rectify deficient areas; report monthly to the Managing Director on major business activities and issues and respond to Head Office enquiries.
  • Achieve and then exceed all major budget targets including Total Sales, Gross Profit, Fixed and Variable Expenses, Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), Net Profit After Tax (NPAT), Interest, Stock Turn, Stock levels and Market Share through tight management controls, constant monitoring and proactive initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of financial statements and management reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Follow through group Internal Audit Reports / Due Diligence Reports and ensure that corrective measures are being implemented.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or similar
  • Experience as a Dealer Principal or National Manager functional role within a leading motor dealership is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, administration and communication skills
  • A hands-on approach to management and the development of staff
  • An understanding of the cultural sensitivity of the people, country and customers
  • High levels of numeracy, strong analytical skills and the ability to problem solve
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experiencing working on the automotive industry at the macro management level
  • Computer literacy with MS office suite skills and ERA automotive system
